Aspartaam wordt, omdat het nauwelijks calorie\u00ebn bevat, gebruikt in allerlei dieet (&#8216;light&#8217;) producten. Het bekendst zijn producten als frisdrank en tafelzoetjes. Bij doseringen v.a. 20 mg\/kg per dag werden statistisch significant en dosisafhankelijke verhogingen gemeten m.b.t. leukemie, lymfomen en hersentumoren.
